The initial history of Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep
Walter Chrysler started the Chrysler Corporation in 1924, initially focusing on affordable six-cylinder automobiles. The Dodge brothers, John and Horace, started their business producing bicycles and introduced the first Dodge vehicle in 1914. Chrysler acquired Dodge in 1928, and expanded its portfolio. Jeep was known for its rugged off-road capabilities, gaining fame during World War II. It became a part of the Chrysler family in 1987 when Chrysler acquired American Motors Corporation (AMC), which owned Jeep. The history of Dodge and Ram
The Dodge Ram pickup truck was first launched in 1980, and in 2009, Chrysler made Ram a separate brand, focusing on the pickup truck segment. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) was formed in 2014 after Fiat increased its ownership stake in Chrysler. FCA represented brands like Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Fiat.
